Maui Lahaina Wildfire Response

Thanks to your donations The Salvation Army is distributing and preparing to distribute thrift store vouchers, grocery cards, AmEx Cards, gas cards, and generators in this early recovery period.

The Salvation Army provides ministry of presence in all they do during disasters with a goal of just being there for people in their most vulnerable moments. "A person requested a visit to a family, for instance, that was isolated without power, he said. The Salvation Army sent a team to visit them, with food, and to let them know they were not alone." The Salvation Army is executing it's early recovery plan to provide assistance to survivors now and in the long run. Those in need are receiving financial assistance along with spiritual and emotional care.

Current Update

As of October 24, 2023, The Salvation Army officers, staff, and volunteers have invested over 13,821 hours in disaster response efforts to provide for Maui survivors' immediate needs while also identifying marginalized communities that will need longer-term assistance. The total meals provided to survivors by all vetted organizations is 901,114 meals. The Salvation Army has provided emotional and spiritual care support to 3,805 survivors throughout the island. Salvation Army disaster response personnel continue collaborating with federal, state, and local emergency management agencies and other partners to monitor ongoing impacts and adapt response efforts as needed.
